Production Quality Control Technician

We are hiring for 2x Production Quality Control Technicians to carry out first line inspection of products to ensure that they are compliant with engineering drawings and relevant regulations, without defect and to the standard required by both the customer and LTi Metaltech.

This is for an initial 6 month contract, with the potential to go permanent. We are hiring for both our Early and Late Shift (fixed)-

Early Shift hours: 05:45-13:00 Monday to Thursday, 06:00-13:00 Friday

Late Shift hours: 14:15-22:25 Monday to Thursday, 13:00-19:00 Friday

Total 37 hours per week.

About the role:

In this position, you will be;

  • Developing an inspection regime and carry out routine, scheduled inspections during the manufacturing process and on finished product to ensure that they are compliant with specification and agreed quality standards.
  • Carrying out random inspections in areas where failure rates are higher than expected with the intention of identifying defects at an earlier stage in the process in order for rectification to be carried out and information provided into investigations into root cause.
  • Applying consistent, repeatable inspection processes to ensure that all product undergoes examination against the same quality standards, regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Using appropriate measuring techniques and equipment.
  • Carrying out Final Inspection sign-off prior to despatch which will include checking of the build log data, registering the vessel and component parts in the Fabrication Log.
  • Carrying out internal audits to support the requirements of standards held by the organisation.
  • Conducting failure investigations, produce report, make recommendations.
  • Recording and sometimes interpreting results to present to senior colleagues.
  • Keeping up to date with technical developments, especially those which can save time and improve reliability.
  • Ad hoc duties as required.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and interpret Engineering Drawings.
  • Familiar with root cause analysis techniques.
  • The use of a wide range of inspection measuring equipment.
  • An understanding of the implications of highly regulated Quality Management Systems.
  • Working in a (mechanical) manufacturing environment relating to welded metal fabrication.
  • Hands on problem-solving and issue resolution.
  • Welding technologies – MIG and TIG (particularly stainless steel).
  • Must have a valid UK Drivers license

Experience of the following would be advantageous:

  • ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 18001, AD Merkblatt AD2000–HP0
  • PCN Level 2 – Welding Inspection. CSWIP 3.0 – Visual weld inspection.

Pay: £28,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
