Production Supervisor

We have an exciting opportunity for a Late Shift Supervisor to join our team at LTi Metaltech, to effectively oversee the day-to-day operations on the shop floor. The role will involve supervising a team of welders, machinists, and operators, managing workflow, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and optimising the use of advanced technologies, including waterjet and laser cutting equipment.

This role covers our late shift (14:15-22:25 Monday to Thursday, and 13:00-19:00 Friday). Flexibility to provide weekend cover is also required.

About the role

In this role, you will be responsible for:

Production Management:

  • Supervise daily shift operations, ensuring efficient use of resources, labour, and materials to meet production targets.
  • Coordinate and monitor welding, waterjet cutting, laser cutting, and fabrication activities to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products.
  • Manage workflow, delegate tasks, and ensure production schedules are adhered to.
  • Track and report on production metrics such as output, efficiency, and quality.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and motivate a team of welders, machinists, and production operators, ensuring that training, skills development, and performance reviews are regularly conducted.
  • Implement Lean manufacturing principles to improve productivity, reduce waste, and streamline operations.
  • Ensure clear communication between shifts and management, providing shift handovers and updates on work progress.

Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure that all products meet strict medical industry standards and regulatory requirements, including pressure vessel certifications.
  • Conduct and oversee first-line inspections to verify compliance with engineering drawings, material specifications, and industry standards.
  • Work closely with Quality Control to identify and address non-conformance issues and implement corrective actions.

Equipment Management:

  • Ensure proper operation, maintenance, and calibration of welding, waterjet cutting, laser cutting, and fabrication equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and work with maintenance teams to minimize downtime and optimize machine utilization.

Health, Safety, and Compliance:

  • Promote a culture of safety, ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct safety audits, identify potential hazards, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with industry standards related to medical manufacturing and pressure vessel production.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance productivity, product quality, and team performance.
  • Lead Lean activities and continuous improvement initiatives within the shift.
  • Collaborate with the engineering and production teams to integrate new technologies, methods, and best practices

About You

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience working in a supervisory capacity in a manufacturing environment is essential.
  • Strong team management abilities, with experience leading a diverse workforce.
  • A knowledge and appreciation of welding techniques (TIG, MIG, Robot Welding and Key Hole Plasma) would be highly beneficial.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety (IOSH) ProAlpha, Quality systems and the principles of Lean manufacturing is desirable.

Pay: Up to £45,000.00 per year
