Apprenticeships at LTi Metaltech

At LTi Metaltech, we’re passionate about developing the next generation of engineers, welders, and fabrication specialists. Our Apprenticeship Programme is a key part of our commitment to building long-term talent and supporting the continued growth of our business.

Working in partnership with The Engineering Trust, we launched our first apprenticeship scheme in 2014 - and since then, we’ve proudly recruited and trained new Welding and Fabrication Apprentices every year. The programme has become one of the cornerstones of our success, helping us develop highly skilled professionals who play a vital role in delivering precision-engineered, high-integrity fabrications for the healthcare, energy, utilities, and renewable sectors.

Welding and Fabrication Apprenticeships

Our Welding and Fabrication Apprenticeships provide hands-on experience in all areas of our production process, supported by classroom-based technical learning. Apprentices work alongside experienced coded welders and engineers, gaining practical skills in TIG welding, pressure vessel fabrication, stainless steel assembly, and inspection techniques.

This structured programme helps apprentices develop the knowledge, confidence, and technical ability required to become fully qualified professionals in the UK welding and fabrication industry.

Trainee Welder Programme

In addition to our apprenticeship scheme, we introduced our Trainee Welder Programme in 2021 - designed for individuals who already have some experience or qualifications in welding or mechanical engineering.

This fast-track pathway provides structured training, mentorship, and exposure to all areas of production. Trainee Welders progress through a defined development plan that prepares them to become skilled, coded welders, capable of working on high-integrity stainless steel fabrications and pressure vessel assemblies.

Our approach combines hands-on experience, theoretical training, and real-world project involvement, ensuring every trainee is ready to contribute effectively within our production environment.

Placement Students

At LTi Metaltech, we recognise the importance of real-world industry experience as part of an engineering degree. We offer 12-month placement opportunities within our Engineering Department for Mechanical Engineering students seeking practical exposure to design, fabrication, and project management.

Reporting directly to our Engineering Manager, placement students gain invaluable insight into live projects, process optimisation, and technical documentation. Many of our placement students have gone on to secure permanent Graduate Engineer positions following exceptional performance during their placements.

These programmes reflect our long-term investment in early careers development, ensuring a continuous pipeline of skilled engineers and welders who uphold the standards of quality, safety, and innovation that define the LTi Metaltech brand.
